Emphasis is placed on both formal and informal communication, helping learners adapt their language use according to different situations, such as academic writing, conversations, presentations, and professional communication.
Reading is a central component of the course, where students engage with a wide range of texts, including prose, poetry, drama, essays, and contemporary writings. Through guided reading, learners develop comprehension skills, interpret themes, analyze characters, and understand the author’s purpose and style. Exposure to diverse literary works from different cultures and time periods broadens students’ perspectives and enhances their ability to think critically about social, cultural, and ethical issues.
Writing skills are developed through structured practice in various formats such as essays, reports, letters, creative writing, and analytical responses. Students learn how to organize ideas logically, develop coherent arguments, and use appropriate tone and style. The course emphasizes clarity, coherence, and creativity, encouraging learners to express their thoughts effectively while maintaining grammatical accuracy. Editing and proofreading skills are also taught to improve the quality of written work.
