The course begins with an overview of the history and origin of yoga, tracing its development from ancient scriptures such as the Vedas and Upanishads to classical texts like the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Students will gain insight into the different paths of yoga, including Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Jnana Yoga, understanding how each path contributes to personal growth and self-realization.
A significant focus of the course is on the practice of asanas (physical postures). Students will learn a variety of yoga poses designed to improve flexibility, strength, balance, and posture. Each asana is taught with attention to proper alignment, breathing coordination, and safety, ensuring that students can practice effectively and prevent injury. The course also emphasizes the importance of regular practice and gradual progression according to individual ability.
Pranayama, or controlled breathing techniques, is another key component. Students will explore various breathing methods that help regulate the flow of energy in the body, reduce stress, and enhance concentration. Techniques such as deep breathing, alternate nostril breathing, and rhythmic breathing are introduced to promote relaxation and mental clarity.
